GRIZEDALE VISITOR CENTRE, (01229 860010) is the Forestry Commission’s leisure and amenity centre in Lakeland. The Park comprises 8,000 acres of mixed woodlands threaded through with footpaths, sculpture trails, forest tracks, bike trails and green lanes for easy walking, cycling, riding and bird watching.

Go Ape is an award-winning high wire forest adventure course of rope bridges, Tarzan Swings and zip slides up to 40 feet up in the trees. Appealing to a wide age range, customers are fitted with a climbing harness, given instructions, and then trek from tree to tree high above the forest floor.
